Job Summary
The Loudoun Pet Sitting Company is growing and we are looking for amazing individuals to join our team! Dog walkers and pet sitters are needed to perform midday dog walks typically between 10 am and 4 pm but hours are flexible. Pet sitters are also needed for morning, evening, overnight, and weekend/holiday vacation care. This work is perfect for animal lovers who are experienced animal caregivers and who enjoy being outside and are looking for supplemental income. The flexible work schedule works well for people who may have middays free while kids are in school, or are morning/afternoon bus drivers, retirees, or college students.
Responsibilities and Duties
This position is responsible for:
- Managing your schedule to ensure that you complete walks and care visits within the designated timeframe
- Using our scheduling app to view your schedule, plan your day, check in and out of each visit, leave notes regarding each visit in the system.
- Meeting dogs and other pets in a positive way and building trusting relationships with the pets and the clients
- Putting on and taking off various types of dog collars and harnesses, leashes, and dog jackets.
- Picking up and disposing of pet waste
- Wiping dogs' feet and bodies if wet or muddy
- Cleaning litter pans, bird cages, floors, and dog crates as needed or requested
- Feeding pets as requested
- Checking and filling water sources
- Ensuring that animals are safely confined by leash or fence, kept away from other animals not part of their family, and kept away from other people while walking
- Using positive reinforcement to ensure a happy walking experience
- Leaving daily notes or sending texts to clients regarding their pets' experience that day
- Informing owners and company of any unusual behavior (limping, diarrhea, vomiting, not eating) or visible injuries immediately.
- Playing with dogs and pets as requested in yard or in home, ensuring that they are happy, healthy and very well cared for!
Requirements:
- Living in or near Middleburg, VA
- An obvious passion for and experience providing a high level of care for all types of animals
- Previous, demonstrable pet care experience with multiple breeds of dogs, cats and other small animals. Must be able to provide multiple references for pet care experience.
- Previous experience as a professional pet sitter or dog walker is a plus!
- A valid driver’s license
- A functioning vehicle
- A smart phone and access to the internet
- Well-organized, punctual, reliable, and able to pass a background check
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must be able to walk outside in all weather one to three miles a day (in increments)
- Ability to work some weekends and holidays a plus as those are very busy times for pet sitters
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $32.00 per hour
Schedule:
