Utilizing the Nursing Process, the Registered Nurse (RN), under the supervision of the Department Head and with the authority of the Chief Nursing Officer, coordinates patient-centered care meeting both the psychological and physical needs of the patients and ensures optimal care and service in accordance with physician orders, The Joint Commission, nursing and departmental guidelines. The Registered Nurse fulfills these duties to ensure continuity and quality of care which fosters the best interest and well being of all patients and their families.

Education:
Graduate from a school of professional nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Nevada State Board of Nursing or current licensure. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification is required. If not current, BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and ACLS, and PALS must be obtaine! d within one year of hire.

Experience:
Pre! vious experience in Emergency Room Department is preferred. Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements (including PROMED) of specific unit.

Skills:
Requires ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities. Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include Assessment/Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation.

Typical Physical Demands:
Requires full range of motion including handling and! lifting patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time. May require frequent bending, squatting, lifting and kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
