Examples of Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
Coordinate the organization, staffing, and operational activities for health care programs and clinics throughout the District.

Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for health care programs; develop and monitor! protocols and standards; identify resource needs; recommend a! nd implement policies and procedures.

Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.

Plan, coordinate, and implement orientations for new staff; provide in-service training; evaluate teaching tools and informational resources used within programs; review and revise pamphlets, films and handouts as necessary.

Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for health care and clinic staff; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work methods and procedures.

Participate in the development of the assigned program budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures; recommend budget adjustments as necessary.

Coordinate services with those of other professional! s and outside agencies and organizations; prepare and present staff reports, handouts and other correspondence as necessary.

Inspect program areas for safety hazards and cleanliness; ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations; review safety and universal precaution standards; implement and ensure compliance by staff.

Assess the growth and changes within the community; plan and provide health service in accordance with community needs and demands. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of health care; may serve on a variety of boards or committees internally and externally as assigned.

Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; review with management staff and implement improvements.

Prepare and conduct presentations at schools, outside organizations, and community agencies regarding a variety of heath care ! issues.

May prepare narrative for grant proposals for assigned! program..

Review safety and universal precaution standards; implement and ensure compliance by staff.

Review and analyze a variety of statistical data regarding health care services; prepare reports and other documentation as necessary.

Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of the assigned program area.

Modern and complex principles, procedures, methods, and techniques of nursing and health care.

Universal precautions and infection control practices.

Principles of budget preparation and control.

Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

Computer software programs such as WORD and EXCEL.

Principles and policies of agency personnel and union contracting.

Pertine! nt Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Ability to:
Organize and review the work of professional, technical and clerical personnel.

Select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff.

Prepare and conduct community awareness classes and seminars.

Interpret and explain District health care policies and procedures.

Respond to emergency situations.

Maintain confidentiality.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Prepare clear and concise reports.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including a variety of medical professionals, community groups, and the general public.

Work independently in the absence of supervision. Training and Experience Guidelines

Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or un! iversity with major course work in nursing. Experience:
Four years o! f registered nursing experience in public health nursing including two years of lead or supervisory responsibility preferably within the last five years. A Masters degree can be substituted for one year of supervisory experience. Experience in infectious disease or tuberculosis treatment and control environment highly preferred . Working Conditions:
May perform District services with individuals with diseases, including communicable diseases.

May travel from site to site for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions. License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate, valid State Registered Nursing License.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid C.P.R. Certificate.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver’s license.
