We are currently recruiting for a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at our Summerlin Hospital Medical Center (Las Vegas, NV). Over the past few years, the hospital has expanded its services to include the Children's Medical Center, providing advanced care for kids with the only Pediatric ICU in the western suburbs of Las Vegas. Other additions include a newly expanded Emergency Department and Pediatric ER, advanced cardiac services, an open-heart surgery program, neonatal medicine a! nd robotic surgery services. Summerlin Hospital Medical Center! recently completed the largest expansion project in the hospital's history. The 174-bed patient tower opened in December 2009, bringing the hospital's total bed capacity 455, as well as adding additional capacity for existing and new services. Position Summary T he CNO is a member of the Hospital Executive Team and is responsible for integration, coordination and direction of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of the hospital. He/she directs nursing and patient care to ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulations, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospitalâs strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The CNO promotes a culture of Service Excellence with all customer gro! ups.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
Certification in a specialty of choice desirable. A Masterâs degree in Nursing, Business, or other related field required.
Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.
Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management.
Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal skills for working closely with others on a team. Ability to plan, direct. Control and monitor othersâ activities.
Demonstrates leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships.
Demonstrated proficiency with common computer based applications such as e-mail, Wind! ows-based programs and various databases.
Five or more years of nur! sing management or supervisor experience in a clinical acute care setting. Experience to include fiscal/budget management responsibilities.
Occasional US travel to conferences and UHS management meetings.
