The position functions at the senior administrative level to provide leadership to deliver quality nursing care. This position is accountable for plannin! g, organizing, directing and expanding services within Renown South Meadows, Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Home Care. The incumbent assures that cost effective and high quality patient care is delivered through the departments under his/her responsibility in accordance with Federal, State, and JCAHO requirements and organizational goals.

This position ensures the continuous and timely availability of nursing services to patients.

The CNO ensures that nursing standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice are consistent with current nursing research findings and nationally recognized professional standards.

The CNO supports the implementation of the findings of current research from nursing and other literature into the policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care.

The CNO ensures that nursing service staff carries out applicable processes in the patient care and organization-wide functions.

! The CNO assigns responsibility to individuals or groups of nur! sing staff members to act on improving the nursing service's performance.

The CNO actively participates in the hospital's leadership functions.

The CNO collaborates with other hospital leaders in designing and providing patient care and services.

The CNO participates with hospital leaders in providing qualified nursing staff ensuring excellent care for patients.

The CNO is fiscally responsible for budgeting resources for the provision of patient care.

Nature and Scope:
The CNO has the authority and responsibility for providing effective and coordinated leadership for the delivery of nursing care.

Nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice are approved by the CNO or a designee(s).

The CNO participates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff and clinical areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide perform! ance-improvement activities.

With the areas continual involvement in the managed care environment, the incumbent is a major player in the strategic positioning of the medical center to ensure competitiveness in the market place. Within this framework, the CNO, along with other senior leaders, is responsible for directing and implementing strategic financial planning and cost containment for the medical center. The CNO also promotes superior quality customer service and ensures that Renown is the local health care provider of choice.

The CNO collaborates with management staff, the other system leaders to conduct proactive planning and organizational wide systems development.

This position is charged with the coordination and development of interdepartmental professional support system.

The CNO provides his/her subordinates with overall administrative direction related to the organization, policy setting, budget preparation, long range plan! ning and integration of functions.

This position does not prov! ide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in a health care or business field preferred, or pursuit of degree upon hire.

Experience:
Minimum of five years experience as a vice president in a similar size facility and /or seven
years experience in an assistant or director level position in a similar size facility.
Background, interest and experience integrating the healing arts into the care environment
preferred. Experience in care coordination and i! ts role with the direct caregivers required.
Experience in an integrated health system preferred.

License(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.

Certification(s):
Professional Certification preferred.

Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
