Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to mentally ill and/or mentally and physically ill or disabled individuals, in an institu! tion or outpatient setting. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Southern Nevada community.
Some of the valuable services we provide include Psychiatric Emergency Services, Inpatient Services, Mobile Crises, Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Intensive Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Residential Support Programs, Mental Health Court, Consumer Advocacy and Programs for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams. Inpatient services are provided through the new Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital. Outpatient services are provided through four mental health clinics located throughout the community. We are accredited by the Centers! for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and by the Joint Com! mission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.

A Psychiatric Nurse III provides professional nursing care to mentally ill adult clients, and is an integral component of the clinical service team. Actively participates in a multidisciplinary team managing a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. Dynamic work responsibilities include assessing and identifying patient health care needs; making comprehensive clinical observations; prepare and document nursing care plans; administer medications; monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reaction.
Serve as a first-line supervisor for the unit, providing work direction, resolving patient care and staffing issues, assign an! d review work, establish work performance standards, evaluate performance, provide counseling and discipline to assigned staff as needed. Will also function as the Hospital House Supervisor when needed. This is a full time position, including a set 8 hour shift. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours per week.

Special Notes A bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience. Special Requir! ements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
