Infection Control Manager

Position Summary: Plans and manages strategies for assuring proper controls against spread of infection which might endanger patient and employee health. Duties in! clude coordinating development and implementation of infection control policies, procedures and standards; evaluating products; surveillance; analyzing data; and, supervising unit staff. Oversees the employee health, wound care, and epidemiology services of the hospital.
Job Requirement:
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, three (3) years of which were in assigned infection control duties.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Current license by State of Nevada to practice as a Registered Nurse; and, valid certification in infection control.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements:
Prefer:
Knowledge of and/or experience in hospital specific Infection Control/Epidemiology policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements:
Knowledge of:
Epide! miology; microbiology; infectious diseases; patient care pract! ices; principles of adult education; state, federal and other health care regulations and standards; infection control and sterilization methods; performance improvement processes; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.
Skill in:
Developing policies and procedures; performing research; using computers and a variety of software applications; writing reports, articles and professional papers; developing educational programs and materials; communicating effectively with people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility ! to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
