Central Texas Medical Center (CMTC) has an immediate need for a full-time, day shift Emergency Room Nurse in San Marcos, TX. Located in between San Antonio and Austin, CTM! C's growing ER includes 20 total beds offering care to a patient population with varying levels of acuity. The ER Nurse provides nursing services for assessing, evaluating, implementing and planning patient centered care for all assigned patients on the emergency unit during his/her shift according to the standards of care of Central Texas Medical Center.*Competitive Salary and Retention Bonus!*Responsibilities: Performs basic nursing functions in all care areas of the Emergency Department to include Cardiopulmonary/Trauma Resuscitation and Triaging of patients. Notifies ED physician when an emergency condition is identified.

When functioning in a charge nurse capacity, assigns duties to all team members and provides supervision as needed, based on skill mix and acuity. Provides report to oncoming shift charge nurse. Directly supervises a total of 2-12 employees in the following department: ER Nursing. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and eva! luation of these units and their employees.

Ensures s! afe transport of patients throughout the ED visit and to the inpatient setting. Directly supervises all non-exempt (hourly) employees in the following departments: ER Nursing. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Completes a rapid initial assessment and a secondary assessment on newly assigned patients arriving to the ED.

Functions on the code team and trauma team as necessary and assist with stabilization of critically ill patients. Completes appropriate documentation and notification for patients requiring inter-hospital transfer according to EMTALA rules and regulations. Treats all patients and family with dignity and respect and identifies spiritual needs and assist with end of life decisions. Actively participates in continuous quality improvement.

Directs and delegates the work of LVNs, Critical Care Techs, unit clerk, and students within scope of practice. Follows all department! al safety policies and procedures regarding patient care and one's personal protection and patient safety. Develops self professionally and participates in hospital and departmental activities. Understands the Computerized Physician Order Entry process and proficiently uses the electronic medical record for retrieval of patient information.
