The role of the Point of Entry RN Case Manager is responsible for coordinating patient care services at the point of entry, as well as screening patients for medical necessity and appropriate level of care at the time of patient status as Observation VS. Inpatient in the facility, or at the time of the change in patient status regardless of the point of entry. The role refelcts appropriate knowledge of current state requirements, CMS Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, The Patient Bill of Rights, and/or tother Fedreral of State regulatory agency requirements specific to Utilization Review and Discharge Planning. Responsibilities includes facilitating proactive patient admission services utilizing Interqual criteria in concert with any regulatory agency guidelins to ensure patiens are appropriately placed in the correct level of care. This position emphasizes patient/customer satisfaction, and balances individually identified patient/family needs with efficacious use of resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a wide range of medical knowledge with various types of patient care/services performed in a in cute hospital setting. Must have critical thinking skills and the ability to obtain and summarize medical information utilizing various reports and computer systems. Works independently and is flexible with all job duties. Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program - diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate program; BSN preferred.
Certification: Case Management Certification (CCM) or CPUR ( Certified Professional Utilization Review) required.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in nursing; Minimum of five (5) years of acute hospital case management, and minimum five (5) years insurance experience in utilization review for Managed Care and Commercial payors. Marketing experience preferred. Must have knowledge of CMS Rules and Regulations.
