QUESTIONS
Janitorial and semiskilled duties in the maintenance of County buildings.
Performs daily cleaning; collects and removes trash; dusts furniture and equipment; washes windows; raises and lowers flags; and performs general maintenance in and outside buildings. Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms, toilets, kitchens, and bathrooms. Maintains tile and vinyl floors, including mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, and buffing. Maintains carpets, including vacuuming, cleaning, shampooing, spot removal, and steam cleaning. Performs minor maintenance tasks including the replacement of lamps, bulbs, and HVAC filters. Performs associated duties, including the maintenance of supply inventories, equipment maintenance, providing general assistance to operating departments, and monitoring contracted services. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures, materials, tools, and equipment used in the custodial maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets for cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Ability to identify maintenance needs, complete minor repairs, and communicate with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Skill in the use of tile and carpet maintenance machines.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to stand, bend, squat, stoop, and climb stairs and ladders. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year of janitorial, building, or grounds maintenance experience.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
