Cytotechnologists [Malaysia]


 

Job Summary:

The Cytotechnologist will be responsible for examining cells and tissues under a microscope to identify pre-cancerous or cancerous cells. They will work closely with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnoses to aid in patient treatment and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform microscopic examinations of cells and tissues to detect abnormalities and identify cancerous or pre-cancerous cells.
  • Prepare and analyze cytology samples, including fine needle aspiration (FNA), Pap smears, and other types of specimens.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and communicate results to pathologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and image analysis systems.
  • Assist with the development and validation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards and adhere to all regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to stay up-to-date with new developments in cytology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cytology or related field.
  • Strong laboratory skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of cytology techniques, including Pap smear and FNA preparation and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred:

  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist or equivalent.
  • Experience with digital imaging and image analysis systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Salary: The salary for this position will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Salary: RM2,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
