Summary:
The Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour responsibility for planning, supervising, and evaluating the care of patients to ensure comprehensive and continuous care for each patient/family in the unit and shift of responsibility.
This involves management and responsibilities for diverse categories of personnel for patient care.
The Nurse Manager position requires in-depth productivity management, knowledge of management principles, communication, teaching/learning principles, nursing practice, and the ability to apply nursing theories.
Acceptance of the philosophy and policies of the nursing unit and of the institution are essential.
The position requires skill in interpersonal communication, group dynamics, problem solving, delegation, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching.
The Nurse Manager must evaluate personnel, assess envir! onment, and determine priorities for care in order to plan, im! plement, and evaluate outcomes of care.
The Nurse Manager must function effectively in stressful situations.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience required
Minimum of two (2) years progressive management experience required
Education:
Bachelor of Nursing required or enrolled
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Masters Degree preferred
Certifications / Licensure:
Valid Nevada RN license
Current BCLS certification
Special Skills:
Demonstrates a consistent disposition and ability to be objective. Participates in evaluation process and demonstrates ability to identify behaviors. Must have good communication skills. Demonstrates ability to assess staff needs and develop objective goals. Computer literate. Leadership abilities / mentoring qualities. Maintains clinical and leadership competencies. Identifies own professional ne! eds and establishes and evaluates measurable goals for own professional growth and performance for the organization. Participates in professional organizations
