The primary responsibility of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to aid the clinical providers in the delivery of medical care, assisting the patient in compliance with and u! nderstanding of that care, and perform some clerical tasks specifically assigned within the scope of practice as defined by the State of Nevada Nurse Practice Act. Duties may also include data entry to State of Nevada Immunization tracking system. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:
- Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program. State Board Examination.
- One year experience of ambulatory and/or hospital nursing experience.
- Current State of Nevada Nursing License.
- Current CPR certification.
- Skills and habits to promote a team effort and continuous communication with co-workers, clinic staff, residents, doctors, patients and vendors.
- Ability to perform general nursing duties efficiently, accurately and safely.
- Ability to learn related medical tasks and be of assistance to both nurses! and clinic providers in the department and clinic.
- E! xtensive knowledge and thorough understanding of, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Skills of adequate judgment and decision making.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize.
- Ability to perform other essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately and safely.
- Skills in communicating in a positive and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Skills for effective discussions with co-workers; listen and respond with empathy; ask for help in solving the problem.
- Skills to anticipate peopleÂ's needs, deal with the unexpected, investigate and establish effective priorities.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate special equipment for in-office procedures.
- Computer, typing and calculator skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of laboratory compliance procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and knowledge of HIPAA policies and! procedures.
- Knowledge of medical records and consent laws.
- Knowledge and understanding of coding requirements. Ability to use ICD9 and CPT4 coding book.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to assist in teaching Resident Physicians the practical skills required in an outpatient setting.
