Coordinates patients’ care activities for assigned nursin! g unit with other members of the health care team.
Delegates patient care to appropriate nursing staff. Makes assignments fairly based on patient’s acuity and needs & the skill level and experience of staff. Determines & discusses staffing needs based on staffing matrix and acuity levels.
Follows up to assure that duties assigned to staff are completed.
Supervises and communicates with nursing staff the implementation of the patient’s medical and clinical plan of care.
Participates in interviewing and hiring new staff.
Functions as resource for all staff & preceptor for new staff & nursing students. Mentors staff, providing opportunities for their growth and development.
Strives to improve unit performance. Actively participates in performance improvement activities through all the phases from planning, implementation, evaluation and sustaining the correction
Assists in the probationary and annual evaluations of staff performance as well as p! erformance of agency personnel.
Assists the Director in di! sciplining employees for performance problems.
Prepares a balanced monthly schedule as assigned by Director.
Resolves patient, staff & other issues during the shift.
Volunteers to serve and actively participates on committees.
Supports and maintains the Mission and Vision of the hospital by providing patients with high quality health care in the most cost effective and productive manner, providing an atmosphere of genuine caring.
Completes activities/projects in a timely manner and supports facility and department goals.
Adjusts schedule to suit unit/facility needs willingly.
Resolves problems proactively through established chain of command.
Assists Unit Director in the implementation of policy changes and changes in unit expectations. Identifies, troubleshoots and communicates barriers to smooth implementation
Participates in scheduled Charge Nurse and Unit meetings
High School Diploma or GED. Graduate from an RN program. BSN p! referred.
Two (2) years of nursing experience. One (1) year unit specific charge nurse experience.
Nevada RN License. CPR Certification for Health Care Providers or equivalent. ACLS required.
