DUTIES:
The primary purpose of this position is: The function of the service is to provide Urological surgical and medical care and treatment including both diagnostic and surgical procedures, for eligible military and dependent patients, and to provide training for residents and new urology technicians. The purpose of this position is to serve as special assistant to the urological surgeon in performance of highly specialized surgical procedures and to prepare endoscopic patients and the necessary special equipment for such procedures. The work ensures ongoing support and delivery of quality patient care in an Air Force hospital and Air Force surgical residency program.

Set up endo-fiberoptic equipment Assist as circulating technician in the Operating Room Perform urinary catheterization on patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatrics, to include changing suprapubic catheters.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service, or equivalent pay system, which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Your experience includes performing work in support of medical or health personnel such as urologists.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Knowledge of a wide range of urology care theories, principles, procedures and tecniques to instruct, direct and advise urology technicians. In addition, knowledge of human body structure and function with skill sufficient to communicate with and understand exchanges with surgeons and nurses.

Knowledge of word, excel, power point and CHCS, ALHTA and Essentris computer programs or similar programs.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Skill in setting up training and teaching specialized urology equipment such as electronic flow rate machines, urodynamic machines, rigiscans. Care, maintenance and set up of cystoscopes and ureteroscopes. Use of maintenance sterilization equipment and processes as applicable.

Skill in oral and written communication and in writing with a diverse group of medical professionals in an effective collaborative manor.

Ability to utilize principles of teaching and learning to faciliatate in-service teaching activities leading to a successful outcome to promote quality care for th urology patient.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Proof of urology technician is highly desired.
